On April 16, the first laparoscopic sterilization surgery on a dog was successfully performed at our clinic. This method involves the use of small skin incisions and specialized optical and surgical instruments, allowing the procedure to be carried out with greater precision and less tissue trauma compared to traditional open surgery. During the procedure, we use modern, high-quality equipment from Karl Storz, ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
The main advantages of laparoscopic sterilization include shorter operation time, reduced intraoperative blood loss, faster postoperative recovery, and a lower risk of complications. Patients also experience lower levels of pain in the postoperative period, significantly improving animal welfare.
The operation was performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, the ovaries were removed using a laparoscopic technique with a high-resolution video system, allowing the surgeon to precisely visualize the structures of the abdominal cavity.
The clinic team considers it important to implement innovative treatment methods in order to provide patients with the best possible care and give owners confidence in their pets’ health.
Laparoscopic surgeries are performed at the veterinary clinic located at Kivimurru 13a, Tallinn. For information and appointments, please call: 5096417.
